Gilpin County Sheriff’s Report September

On 9/1/19 deputies contacted a vehicle in the Grand Z Casino parking garage. Two parties were arrested for possession of cocaine.

On 9/1/19 at approximately 6:44 p.m., a deputy responded to Missouri Flats Road, Central City, on the report of a cold burglary. A report was taken. 

On 9/2/19 at approximately 10:30 a.m., a deputy assisted Colorado State Parks at approximately Mile Marker 11.4 Highway 119, located in unincorporated Gilpin County, regarding a group of people shooting firearms in the Arapaho National Forest. A deputy transported one of two parties who were arrested to the Gilpin County Jail.

On 9/2/19 at approximately 5:24 p.m., deputies and medics responded to Bald Mountain Road, Central City, on the report of a suicidal subject with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The party was airlifted to the hospital and an investigation has been opened. 

On 9/3/19 at approximately 8:33 p.m., a deputy responded to the Grand Z Casino in Central City on the report of found drugs. The drugs were collected and booked into evidence for destruction.

On 9/4/19 at approximately 6:48 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to a residential address in Central City on the report of a camping violation or trespass.  A male party was later issued a summons related to trespassing and littering. 

On 09/5/19 at 2 p.m., a deputy came across a warrant for an inmate who was in custody in the Gilpin County Jail out of Clear Creek County. The party was booked in on the new charges without incident.

On 9/6/19 at approximately 4:10 p.m., a deputy conducted a traffic stop on Nevada Street in Central City. The driver was issued a summons.

On 9/7/19 a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle parked on the Central City Parkway. The driver was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.

On 9/7/19 deputies responded to a disturbance at the Gold Mountain Village Apartments. It was determined to be a verbal disturbance. 

On 9/8/19 a deputy attempted to stop a bike sport motorcycle on south Highway 119. The rider looked at the deputy and engaged in a high-speed pursuit in excess of 100 mph. The deputy was able to identify the rider and the pursuit was discontinued for public safety concerns. A warrant will be issued for the rider.

On 9/9/19 at 7:45 a.m., a deputy responded to the intersection of Pactolus Lake Road and Lincoln Hills Road, unincorporated Gilpin County, on the report of an abandoned RV blocking the road. The RV was later removed, and a report was taken.

On 9/9/19 at approximately 12:50 a.m., a male party came to the front lobby of the Gilpin County Sheriff`s Office to turn himself in on an active Gilpin County warrant.

On 9/10/19 at approximately 9:45 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to Virginia Canyon Road, located in unincorporated Gilpin County, regarding a suspicious person. The deputy arrived on scene, investigated the incident and later gave three parties a courtesy ride away from the residence. A case report was later completed.

On 9/11/19 a deputy contacted a suspicious vehicle in the Century Casino Parking Garage. A male party was arrested on a felony warrant for failure to register as a sex offender.

On 9/11/19 at approximately 8:45 p.m., a deputy responded to the area of Smith Hill Road and Highway 119 to meet with a Colorado Parks and Wildlife Officer regarding a possible trespassing issue. The deputy made contact with the suspect who later resisted arrest when the deputy attempted to take him into custody. The party was arrested and booked into the Gilpin County Jail.

On 9/12/19 at approximately 7:54 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to the intersection of Caesar Road and Highway 119, in unincorporated Gilpin County, on a report of an abandoned boat and trailer. The boat and trailer were towed and a case report was completed. 

On 9/13/19 at approximately 7 a.m., a deputy took a report of a dog bite which occurred in unincorporated Gilpin County. A case report was completed.

On 9/13/19 at approximately 4:05 a.m., deputies responded to a disturbance at a residence. Prior to the deputies arrival, the suspect had left the property on foot and fled into a wooded area. While checking the perimeter, the suspect could be heard yelling in the woods. Deputies were able to locate the suspect and take him into custody. While conducting the investigation, the victims in the case refused to pursue charges. The suspect was later transported to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.

On 9/14/19 a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle for speeding. Upon conducting the stop, it was discovered that the driver/rider was a registered sex offender who had failed to register his correct address. Case will be forwarded to the Westminster Police Department for charges.

On 9/15/19 at approximately 1:10 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the Z-Stop Gas Station, located in unincorporated Gilpin County, regarding an assault in progress. After the investigation, the victim did not want to pursue criminal charges. The offender was determined to be held on an Emergency Mental Illness Report. A case report was later completed.

On 9/16/19 at approximately 12:38 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to recover two counterfeit $20 bill at the Century Casino and Hotel, Central City. The counterfeit bills were recovered; they were processed and forwarded to the United States Secret Service per their procedures. A case report was completed.

On 9/17/19 at approximately 2:12 a.m., a deputy conducted a traffic stop near the 400 block of Lawrence Street, Central City. The driver was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

On 9/17/19 at approximately 8:55 p.m., a person arrived at the Gilpin County Sheriff`s Office to turn herself in on an active, valid warrant. The person was arrested and brought to the Gilpin County Detention Facility for processing.

On 9/18/19 at approximately 8:04 a.m., a deputy conducted a traffic stop in the 5500 block of Highway 119, in unincorporated Gilpin County. The driver was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. A case report was later completed.

On 9/18/19 at approximately 10:08 a.m., a deputy took a report of a dog bite which occurred at Karlann Drive, unincorporated Gilpin County. A case report was completed.

On 9/19/19 at 11:53 a.m., it was discovered that a female in custody had an active warrant. She was booked in with no incident. 

On 9/20/19 a deputy arrested a female party at Easy Street Casino who had seven active warrants for her arrest.

On 9/22/19 at approximately 6:46 p.m., a deputy conducted a welfare check on Apex Valley Road, Black Hawk. The driver was found to be intoxicated and was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

On 9/23/19, a deputy responded to a cold burglary at a residence in unincorporated Gilpin County. Information was obtained and a report was made.

On 9/24/19 at approximately 5:46 p.m., a deputy responded to property near mile post 3.2 on Highway 119, Black Hawk, on the report of a trespass. A report was taken. 

On 9/25/19 at approximately 11:39 a.m., a deputy took a report of trespassing and theft from a camper trailer located in unincorporated Gilpin County. A case report was completed. 

On 9/26/19 at approximately 6:11 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the Grand Z parking garage in Central City, on a report of a disturbance. After further investigation, it was found that one of the parties involved had an active warrant for his arrest. The male party was arrested and processed into the Gilpin County Jail. A case report was completed. 

On 9/26/19 at approximately 12:55 p.m., deputies responded to a residence on Highway 46, Black Hawk, unincorporated Gilpin County, regarding a trespass issue during which the trespasser was belligerent to the homeowner. The trespasser was contacted, identified and issued a summons for trespassing.

On 9/27/19 a deputy responded to the Century Casino, on the report of a theft. A suspect was later located and issued a summons.

On 9/28/19 a deputy responded to the Famous Bonanza Casino, on the report of a previously trespassed patron on property. The male party was escorted off property and issued a summons for trespassing.

On 9/28/19 at approximately 7:08 p.m., a deputy responded to the 100 block of Main Street, Central City, on the report of a woman littering and yelling at people. A summons was issued for littering. 

On 9/28/19 a deputy responded to Old Dory Hill Road on a single vehicle crash. The driver was issued a summons for careless driving and open alcoholic beverage container.

On 9/28/19 at 8:05 p.m., deputies responded to a traffic accident in the 1200 block of Highway 46, unincorporated Gilpin County. The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident fled the scene but was later contacted by a deputy and returned to the scene. Colorado State Patrol handled the investigation from that point.

On 9/29/19 at approximately 9:30 p.m., a deputy responded to the Dory Lakes subdivision on a report of a bear that had been shot. It was determined that the homeowner witnessed the bear attacking his llamas and charging the homeowner. The bear was shot and killed when it became aggressive.

On 9/30/19 at approximately 9:11 p.m., a deputy conducted a traffic stop near mile marker 3 on Highway 119, Black Hawk. The driver was found to be driving on a suspended license and was issued a summons.
