Gilpin County Sheriff’s Report, August 2025
On 8/1/25, at approximately 3:59 p.m., deputies took a phone report of an alleged fraud that occurred in the 100 block of Main Street, Central City.
On 8/1/25, deputies responded to reports of a motor vehicle accident in the 100 block of Lawrence Street.
On 8/2/25, at approximately 1:21 a.m., an individual turned themselves in to the Gilpin County Jail and was taken into custody.
On 8/2/25, at approximately 3:14 a.m., a deputy was on routine patrol in the area of the Columbine Campground when they observed a white four-door vehicle that was parked off the road about 15 feet in the tree line at the approximate location of Columbine Campground Road.
On 8/2/25, deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident on the Central City Parkway. A report was made.
On 8/2/25, at approximately 3:42 p.m., deputies at the Gilpin County Justice Center took a phone report for an alleged violation of a protection order.
On 8/3/25, deputies responded to a wildlife issue. A report was made.
On 8/3/25, deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident at mile marker 14 on Highway 119. A report was made.
On 8/3/25, at approximately 2:53 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a report of found property in the 400 block of Feldspar Road in unincorporated Gilpin County.
On 8/3/25, at approximately 8:23 p.m., deputies responded to reports of a motor vehicle accident resulting on the train tracks near the 100 block of Tolland Road near Rollinsville.
On 8/4/25, at approximately 6:15 p.m., dispatch advised a deputy of criminal mischief that occurred on Apex Valley Road. A report was taken.
On 8/4/25, deputies responded to the 100 block of Sun Sedge Road for reports of a medical emergency.
On 8/7/25, at approximately 10:06 a.m., a deputy was dispatched for a harassment located at 149 Gregory Street. Upon identifying the suspect involved, deputies were made aware of a warrant for their arrest. The suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Gilpin County Jail.
On 8/7/25, at approximately 9:30 p.m., a male subject came to the Gilpin County Sheriff's Office to turn himself in on a warrant. The subject was taken into custody and booked into the jail.
On 8/8/25, deputies responded to a report of theft via cellphone. A report was made.
On 8/8/25, at approximately 2:48 p.m., deputies took a phone report for an alleged motor vehicle theft that occurred in the 5000 block of Highway 119.
On 8/9/25, at approximately 1:34 a.m., deputies responded to Columbine Campground on a report of
several 911 calls with a male threatening to kill people with a machete. Citizens disarmed the individual and held him down until resources could arrive. The individual was transported for a mental health hold and a report was taken.
On 8/9/25, at approximately 5:05 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the report of a protection order violation located on Lawrence Street in Central City. A report was taken.
On 8/9/25, at approximately 7:18 p.m., deputies took a phone call for an alleged noise complaint and trespass on Old Hughesville Road.
On 8/9/25, at approximately 6:09 p.m., deputies received a call reporting a dog bite incident. A report was taken.
On 8/10/25, deputies responded to a trespass in the 15000 block of Highway 119. A report was made.
On 8/10/25, at approximately 11:53 p.m., Gilpin County deputies and firefighters from the Timberland Fire Department, and Gilpin Ambulance were dispatched to a lost and injured hiker.
On 8/11/25, at approximately 11:41 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to a phone report of a drug violation in Black Hawk. A report was made.
On 8/13/25, at approximately 1:34 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to a motor vehicle incident involving
injuries at the intersection of Ronnie Road and Leon Lane. The scene was turned over to the Colorado State Patrol for investigation. A report was made.
On 8/13/25, a deputy was dispatched to Base Camp on a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle had run into a fence and fire pit. Upon arrival, the vehicle was not around. Just prior to being dispatched to this call a Motor Vehicle Accident call came into dispatch, it was later determined to be the same vehicle. The Colorado State Patrol handled the situation.
On 8/14/25, at approximately 2:36 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the Gilpin County Sheriff's Office lobby for a theft that occurred on Dory Hill Road. A report was made.
On 8/15/25, deputies took a phone report for mail theft that occurred on South Beaver Creek.
On 8/15/25, deputies were dispatched for a report of possible shots fired in the 5000 block of Highway 119.
On 8/15/25, members of the Gilpin County Sheriff's Office were participating in the sobriety checkpoint conducted jointly by Colorado State Patrol and Black Hawk Police Department at mile marker 0.5 of Highway 119. At approximately 9 p.m., a Colorado State Patrol trooper effected an arrest of a subject suspected to be under the influence of a drug. Gilpin County's Certified Drug Recognition Expert assisted by conducting a Drug Influence Evaluation.
On 8/16/25, at approximately 2:11 a.m., deputies were dispatched to a structure fire located on Wagon Wheel Trail.
On 8/16/25, at approximately 12:31 p.m., deputies responded to the report of a protection order violation on South Dory Lakes Drive, unincorporated Gilpin County.
On 8/16/25, at approximately 4:17 p.m., a deputy witnessed a traffic accident on Highway 119 at mile marker 4. While on scene of the traffic accident, a second traffic accident occurred at the same location. The deputy assisted troopers with completing reports on both accidents.
On 8/17/25, at approximately 1 a.m., a deputy conducted a traffic stop in the 6500 block of the
Central City Parkway. A report was taken.
On 8/18/25, at approximately 7:38 a.m., deputies responded to Gregory Street in Black Hawk for an assault in progress. An arrest was later made.
On 8/18/25, at approximately 11:48 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to a report of a criminal mischief on South Beaver Creek Road, unincorporated Gilpin County. A report was taken.
On 8/18/25, at approximately 5:50 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to a civil issue to be handled by phone located on Mac Rock Road, Central City. A report was taken.
On 8/18/25, at approximately 11:08 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to a harassment issue that could be handled by telephone.
On 8/19/25, at approximately 9:06 a.m., a deputy was on duty in a marked patrol vehicle and observed an abandoned trailer located at mile marker 10 on Highway 119, Black Hawk. A fictitious trailer registration plate was confiscated and a report was made.
On 8/20/25, at approximately 12:40 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to property that was found at Lawrence and D Streets in Central City. The item was booked into evidence for safekeeping and a report was made.
On 8/20/25, at approximately 6:55 p.m., deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle call for service located near the 100 block of Hooper Street and Virginia Canyon Road. A report was made.
On 8/21/25, at approximately 3:35 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the Central City Fire Department on a report of found property. Upon arrival the reporting party described where the property was located, he did not remove it and left it on scene. Later, when enough personnel were on duty, deputies went to the location of the property.
On 8/21/25, deputies responded to mile marker 5.5 on Highway 119 to assist Colorado
State Patrol with a motorcycle crash. A report was later written.
On 8/21/25, at approximately 5 p.m., dispatch advised a deputy of a theft to be handled by phone that
occurred at the Z-Stop gas station. A report was taken.
On 8/22/25, at approximately 5:05 a.m., deputies were dispatched to a wildlife violation near Juniper Drive. A report was written.
On 8/22/25, deputies responded to the area of mile marker 3.5 on Highway 119 to assist Colorado State
Patrol with a traffic stop. A report was made.
On 8/22/25, at approximately 10:30 a.m., deputies responded to the 100 block of Merchant Street in regards to a Violation of Protection Order. A report was made.
On 8/22/25, at approximately 1:30 p.m., a party was booked into the Gilpin County Jail on an outstanding active, valid warrant. A report was later completed.
On 8/22/25, deputies responded to Upper Apex Valley Road for a single car motor vehicle accident. A report was made.
On 8/23/25, at approximately 3:06 p.m., deputies were dispatched to an Assault in Progress, located in the 4000 block of Tolland Road. A report was taken.
On 8/23/25, at approximately 4:39 p.m., a deputy responded to the report of found property at the Grand-Z Casino. A stolen firearm was recovered and a report was taken.
On 8/23/25, at approximately 8:30 p.m., a deputy took a report of a lost or stolen license plate.
On 8/23/25, at approximately 9:02 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the report of a criminal mischief located near mile marker 3 on Highway 119. A report was taken.
On 8/24/25, at approximately 5:35 p.m., deputies responded to Lake Gulch Road on a verbal disturbance. Investigation disclosed no criminal activity. The involved parties were asked to leave by management.
On 8/25/25, at approximately 8:30 a.m., deputies responded to the Grand Z Casino for a possible death investigation. Deputies arrived on scene and attempted life saving measures. A report was later written.
On 8/25/25, Black Hawk deputies responded to Hughesville Road in regards to an
abandoned trailer. The trailer was towed and a report was made.
On 8/26/25, at approximately 7:30 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to the sheriff's office lobby for a vehicle theft that occurred at Fiddlers Green Place in Black Hawk. This was determined to be civil and a report was taken for documentation.
On 8/26/25, a deputy took a phone report regarding possible harassment. It was determined the matter was a civil issue, however, a report was completed for documentation of the incident.
On 8/26/25, at approximately 10:27 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to a phone report of littering at the Century Casino. The incident took place on 8/23/25, at approximately 10:38 p.m. A report was made.
On 8/26/25, at approximately 7 p.m., deputies met with a party in the sheriff's office lobby regarding a traffic complaint that occurred on Gregory Street in Central City.
On 8/26/25, at approximately 8 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a disturbance near Gregory Street, Central City. A report was made.
On 8/26/25, at approximately 8:40 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a harassment call for service near Claudius Road, Black Hawk. A report was made.
On 8/27/25, a deputy reported a damaged stop sign at the intersection of Gold Road and Highway 119 in unincorporated Gilpin County.
On 8/28/25, a deputy took a report over the phone for criminal mischief on Dory Hill Road, Gilpin County. A report was later written.
On 8/28/25, a report was taken for an unknown pill found on a school bus. The pill was booked into
evidence to be destroyed.
On 8/29/25, at approximately 2:56 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 200 block of East
First High Street, Central City, for a report of a cold burglary. A male and female were issued a summons.
On 8/30/25, deputies responded to the Famous Bonanza Casino for a burglary alarm. A report was made.
On 8/30/25, at approximately 7 p.m., deputies responded to the Famous Bonanza Casino in regards to a fraud complaint. A report was taken.
On 8/31/25, at approximately 9 a.m., deputies were dispatched to a parking problem in the 200 block of Nevadaville Road. The vehicle was towed.
