Gilpin County Sheriff Report: March 2022

On 3/1/22 at approximately 1:06 a.m., Gilpin County deputies were dispatched to a burglary in progress. Deputies arrived on scene and contacted two male parties who were also in possession of a stolen vehicle. Both parties were transported to St. Anthony`s Hospital in Lakewood for medical. Warrants were issued for both parties.

On 3/2/22 at approximately 7:57 p.m., Gilpin County deputies dispatched to the Famous Bonanza Casino located at 109 Main Street in Central City on a report of a theft.

On 3/3/22 at approximately 5:23 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to a suspicious vehicle at the Century Casino garage, located at 102 Main Street in Central City. The deputy was further advised the vehicle was on level three of the garage taking pictures of vehicles and other people.

On 3/3/22 at approximately 12:40 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the Gilpin County Sheriff`s Office located at 2960 Dory Hill Road in Black Hawk on a report of a cold assault. A report was completed.

On 3/3/22 at approximately 4:15 p.m., Gilpin County deputies were dispatched to the EZ Street Casino located at 120 Gregory Street in Central City on a call of Drug Violation. A report was completed.

On 3/5/22 at approximately 6:52 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the Century Casino on 102 Main Street in Central City on the report of a disturbance. A surveillance operator reported observing a male party knock the glasses off of the face of a female party. The male party was not located. A warrant will be sought for the arrest of the male party.

On 3/7/22 at approximately 11:00 a.m., a deputy responded to the 300 block of Gregory Street in Central City on a report of found drugs. The suspected drugs were seized and a case report was later completed.

On 3/7/22 at approximately 11:10 a.m., Gilpin County deputies were dispatched to Black Hawk in reference to a possible suicide. A report was completed.

On 3/8/22 at approximately 11:40 a.m., a deputy made a traffic stop in the 100 block of Nevada Street in Central City. The driver`s driving privileges were found to be revoked. A citation was issued and a case report was later completed.

On 3/8/22, a deputy arrested a party in the Gilpin County Courtroom located at 2960 Dory Hill Road in Black Hawk on two outstanding warrants. A report was later completed.

On 3/9/22 at approximately 4:35 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to a crash between a bus and a sports utility vehicle in the 1600 block of Highway 119 in unincorporated Gilpin County. A case report was later completed.

On 3/10/22 at approximately 6:49 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to Black Hawk to investigate the report of an elderly male that was unconscious and not breathing.

On 3/10/22 at approximately 8:20 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to Timber Drive in unincorporated Gilpin County on a report of a vandalized mailbox. Evidence was collected and a case report was later completed.

On 3/11/22, dispatch aired that an elk or deer was laying in the middle of the road at mile marker 7.5 Central City Parkway. The doe was locked in the ditch at approximately mile marker 7.3 and was still alive. The deer had been hit by a vehicle and had to be dispatched.

On 3/12/22, deputies responded to a report of a disturbance in progress at the Coyote Motel located at 5312 Highway 119 in unincorporated Gilpin County. Upon contacting the individuals involved deputies discovered an adult female party had an active warrant for her arrest. Deputies took the individual into custody and transported her to the Gilpin County Detentions Facility.

On 3/12/22 at approximately 1:43 p.m., deputies were dispatched to Quartz Valley Road in Central City in reference to a welfare check call and a report was completed.

On 3/14/22 at approximately 4:28 p.m., a Gilpin County deputy was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in the 100 block of Lawrence Street in Central City. A report was made.

On 3/15/22 at approximately 8:15 p.m., a deputy conducted a traffic stop at mile marker 14 on Highway 119. The suspect ran from the deputy and wasn’t found.

On 3/16/22 at approximately 1:04 a.m., Gilpin County deputies responded to the Coyote Motel for the report of a disturbance. A female party was arrested and booked into the Gilpin County Jail for third degree assault.

On 3/16/22 at approximately 8:37 a.m., dispatch responded to a theft from mailboxes at Caesar Road and Highway 119 in Black Hawk. A report was completed.

On 3/17/22 at approximately 1:39 a.m., a Gilpin County deputy was in the 1700 block of Dory Hill Road assisting a motorist when a vehicle slid into the deputy’s patrol vehicle. Colorado State Patrol was notified and made an accident report.

On 3/18/22 at approximately 11:30 a.m., Gilpin County deputies working at the Gilpin County Jail placed a female party on a mental health hold and transported her to Lutheran Medical Center.

On 3/19/22 at approximately 9:30 a.m., a party arrived at the Gilpin County Sheriff`s Office lobby for visitation. A deputy found that the party’s drivers license was suspended. A proof of service was issued for the suspended driver’s license.

On 3/19/22 at approximately 11:10 a.m., Gilpin County deputies were dispatched to the Z Stop Gas Station located at 1351 Highway 119 in Black Hawk on a report of Criminal Mischief. A report was completed.

On 3/20/22, deputies responded to a report of an adult female being struck by a vehicle in the 50 block of Midway Drive in unincorporated Gilpin County. The female was transported to the hospital by paramedics and a report was taken.

On 3/23/22 at approximately 12:20 a.m., a female party arrived in the Sheriff’s Office lobby to turn herself in on a warrant. The female party was taken into custody and a report was taken.

On 3/23/22 at approximately 11:15 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the 200 block of East 4th High Street in Central City for a report of a suicidal subject. The subject was sent to the hospital for treatment and a case report was later completed.

On 3/24/22 at approximately 12:15 p.m., deputies assisted the Black Hawk Police Department with the apprehension of the driver of a stolen vehicle. A case report was later completed.

On 3/24/22 at approximately 5:22 p.m., Gilpin County deputies responded to the 100 block of Spring Street on the report of a motor vehicle accident. There were no injuries and an accident report was made.

On 3/25/22 at approximately 3:18 a.m., a deputy conducted a traffic stop at mile marker 5.3 on Highway 119 in Black Hawk. During the course of the traffic stop the deputy determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was issued a summons and transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation.

On 3/25/22, deputies responded to a report of a head-on motor vehicle accident at mile marker 3 of Highway 119 in unincorporated Gilpin County. Deputies provided assistance to the Colorado State Patrol as they conducted an investigation.

On 3/27/22 at approximately 6:25 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 2400 block of Dory Hill Road in Black Hawk on the report of a cold burglary. The burglary is being investigated.

On 3/28/22 at approximately 1 p.m., Gilpin County deputies were dispatched to the intersection of South Beaver Creek Road and Wallens Place for an abandoned trailer. A report was completed.

On 3/29/22 at approximately 1:26 a.m., Gilpin County deputies responded to the 3400 block of Smith Hill Road on the report of a suicidal party. Deputies arrived and made contact with a suicidal male party who was transported for a mental health evaluation. A report was made.

On 3/29/22, a deputy in the Gilpin County Jail rebooked an inmate for a PC Felony warrant that was issued by Black Hawk Police Department without incident. The warrant was for Second Degree Assault of a Peace Officer and Resisting Arrest and has a five thousand cash only bond.

On 3/29/22 at approximately 7:45 p.m., Gilpin deputies located a male party with a felony warrant out of Gilpin County for domestic violence. The male party was arrested and processed into the Gilpin County Jail.

On 3/30/22 at approximately 2:34 p.m., a deputy conducted a traffic-stop and after screening the driver for impairment issued them a summons to court.

On 3/30/22, the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s notified the Gilpin County Jail that a male inmate in custody had an active warrant out of their county. The inmate was booked in on the warrant and a report was taken.

On 3/30/22 at approximately 10 a.m., deputies assisted with a combative inmate inside the Gilpin County Detention Center.

On 3/31/22 at approximately 10:55 a.m., a deputy contacted a person in the sheriff’s office lobby requesting to turn himself in on a warrant. The person was detained and processed into the Gilpin County Jail on the warrant.
