Gilpin County Old Courthouse open to public

Posted

Dear Editor,

The Gilpin County Old Courthouse first floor will be opening to the public as of June 1.  We do ask that you continue to make appointments and know that wearing a mask is mandatory while on county property and working with county employees.

Three Ways to Pay Your Taxes:

#1 – Online.  For online credit card or e-check payments go to: https://treasurer.gilpincounty.org/treasurer/web/. Enter only your account number or only the last name the property is held under. Please call our office if you need help.

#2 – By Mail. You may mail your payment or after hours leave it in the ballot box outside the Central City Courthouse.

#3 - Courthouse to Car Door. At this time, we’d rather not have our customers come into the confined space of the courthouse, so we’ll come out to your car.  Call and tell us you are on your way, tap your horn when you pull in the parking lot and we’ll be out shortly. If you need a receipt once we enter the payment, we will deliver your receipt.

Please don’t hesitate to call the Treasurer’s Office if you have ANY questions!! 303-582-5222

For Motor Vehicle Transactions:

Make a MV appointment at calendly.com/gilpinmotorv.  Between June 1 and July 31, you can make an appointment and know you will be seen at that time. Walk-ins will be taken as available but please know that due to staffing and demand, there may be a wait or we may ask you to come back at another time. Many transactions can be completed at mydmv.colorado.gov. Renewals can be mailed in, dropped in the drop box, paid on-line or at a kiosk. More info at gilpincounty.org.

For Recording Transactions:

Please continue to schedule your appointment to use the searching computer at 303-582-5321. We hope to have records on line by the end of summer! General recording of documents or marriage licenses can be done by appointment or by walk-in.  Masks are still required while on county property! More info at gilpincounty.org.

Thank you,

Mary Lorenz
Gilpin County Treasurer

Sahari McCormick
Gilpin County Clerk & Recorder
