Dear Editor,
The VFW in Gilpin County is actively supporting veterans. I didn’t know this until I needed the support myself.
I had a 55 day battle with Covid and was recently released. I was outside on my front porch (that is all the farther my oxygen hose would reach) when my wife commented on some yard work that needed to be done when I was off my oxygen. My friend Doug Lupo asked if I was a veteran and I told him that I was. He then said, “Don’t worry about it, I’ll get some people from the VFW to come do this for you.”
That was when I learned that he is the commander of the Gilpin County VFW and he believes the VFW should do all that it can to help out local veterans. Two days later someone came by and took care of the yard work.
I feel it is important for our veterans to know that they have help and support if they need it. This applies to all veterans, not just Veterans of Foreign Wars.
If you are still reading and you know any veterans please pass along this information.
Bob Morgan
