Candidates for Gilpin County positions in the upcoming elections in November will be profiled in The Mountain-Ear. A questionnaire was sent to each candidate.
Gilpin County Sheriff Kevin Armstrong is running for Sheriff as a Republican. He has lived in Gilpin County for 18 years in the Missouri Lakes Subdivision
He attended High School in Green Mountain and College in Santa Barbara Community College and Metro State. For additional training, he has attended several Leadership Schools, Command, and staffing schools, FBI Leadership Development, Numerous other police related schools over a 42-year career.
He is on the Colorado Limited Gaming Commission, County Sheriffs of Colorado Board of Directors and the County Sheriffs of Colorado Legislative committee
“I am currently your elected Sheriff. I am married to my wonderful wife Kersten. We have two daughters and four grandchildren currently residing in Kansas. We have a daughter who recently graduated from Baylor University and is now enrolled in medical school in Tennessee.”
In the community, he has been involved with the Alan Green Memorial Fund as president, the Gilpin County Education Foundation and the Central City Elks.
