Gary Gilbert: 11/1/50 – 5/22/20

Gary Gilbert, previously of Rollinsville, Colorado, and as of late from Melbourne, Arkansas, passed away last month. 

Gary Speck Gilbert, son of the late Houston Clenton Gilbert and Lula Mae Aycock Gilbert, was born November 1, 1950 in Sulphur Springs, Louisiana. 

Gary worked as a logistics engineer with Pioneer Natural Resources. He retired after 50 years of oil field related work. He spent a portion of his adult life living in Rollinsville, where he owned the Rollinsville Grocery and Liquor Store before leaving to go back to the oil business.  

He departed this life May 22, 2020 at his home in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 69 years, after succumbing to complications during the final stages of rehabilitation from a quadruple bypass. It was his intention to return to the mountains for an extended visit with his friends in the area he so loved once he had recovered from the surgery. 

He spent his life as a loving son, father, grandfather, provider and friend. He is survived by two sons: Sean Gilbert (Christy); and Matthew Lance Gilbert; grandchildren Britten Christopher Gilbert, Katie Lauren Gilbert, Michael Josef Clenton Gilbert as well as many other relatives and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.      

 Memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Eddie’s Family Funeral Home, in Melbourne, Arkansas.
