Would you like to play a game? How about “Global Thermonuclear War”?
Yes indeed. War Games is in the vintage movie category now. But today we are going to talk about games. Vintage games. Board games, card games. Still as much fun as they always have been. Even with the computer age, we still are drawn to basic table games.
Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, Life, Trouble…we all know these games and many collect. It is something Pam’s Pantiques has always recovered from estates. But games are not like puzzles. They always seem to have all the pieces!
We have found some awesome games over the last five years. Crazy Cat Lady, Spanish Chatter, Othello, MouseTrap, Outburst and more. Do you have a favorite? What games do you and your family play? How big is your collection? For the last few years we have noticed a turn in the retail market.
We’ve all played Monopoly. We all know every inch of that board. But the game makers keep more of the same coming. Guess they know a good thing? How many different versions of Monopoly have you seen? The collector editions will hold more value in the future but now are just worth holding onto and taking care of them. Don’t forget to play and put all the pieces away when you are done.
The perfect example of games that last forever, doesn’t come with a board. It comes with 52 rectangle shaped cards. There is never a dull moment with a deck of cards. Did you play Solitaire? Go Fish, Gin Rummy, Bridge…
There is not a great resale market as far as money goes for games like this. But there is a great market for them. We often donate large quantities. As we always say, one man gathers what another man spills. So go on…get off the computer. Stop candy crushing and go play a family game! Promise: you will have fun and will not regret it. GAME ON!
