On the last Monday of the school year all the students at Nederland Elementary School (NES) participated in Fun and Fitness Day. Beloved NES physical education teacher Terry Neitenbach organized the event.
Neitenbach is a retired BVSD teacher and came out of retirement to teach physical education for one year at NES. In that one year he made an amazing impact on the students at the school. He had a positive impact on the whole school. He was respectively and affectionately known as Mr. N. or the teacher with the little blue whistle.
Each class had a specific time to come to Fun and Fitness Day. The fifth grade class was there to guide the younger students at each station. There were 14 stations and 50 minutes to enjoy all the stations. Parents were invited to attend Nederland Elementary’s Fun and Fitness Day.
The stations included a speed throw, climbing wall, speed stacks, EZ riders, bowling, jumping stations, foam bricks, and more. The students were engaged in the activities and so were the parents.
Neitenbach said that the kids worked hard and he saw great cooperation from them. He said, “It was a great way to end the year. And it gave a way for the kids to show off their skills.”
The day was appropriately titled. It was fun! It was also a great way for the students at NES to say good-bye to Mr. N. and show their thanks to him for a great year.
