Dear Editor,
I have appreciated reading Nederland Elementary Principal Caleb Melamed´s letters to the editor, thanking and praising Eldora for its support of Nederland kids with their winter skiing programs.
I would like to reflect that it has not been quite the same story for the other two mountain schools in the area, Gold Hill and Jamestown Elementary. I will not speak for Gold Hill, but as one of the teachers at Jamestown Elementary, I can attest to the fact that since COVID, Eldora cut our skiing program down from 3 days to 1 day, and then two years ago completely eliminated any kind of ski program with Jamestown Elementary. We tried suggesting a number of different scenarios to try and make it work with Eldora, but to no avail. To say we felt left out in the cold is an understatement, as we had been doing a ski program with Eldora for many years.
I, for one, look forward to the possibility of new management at Eldora, with the hope that they will realize that supporting all three mountain schools with a ski program makes good, long term, business sense.
