The Annual Boulder International Film Festival (BIFF) will celebrate its 20th year from February 29 to March 3, 2024. The four-day festival will not only feature work by filmmakers from all over the world, but will host several events, from the opening night red carpet gala and various other themed parties, to panel discussions with many of the directors, writers, producers, and actors in attendance.
On Saturday, March 2, at 7:30 p.m. at Boulder High School, during a showcase of Boulder filmmakers, a short documentary titled “Frozen Dead Guy Days” is set to premier. The documentary, produced by Bruce Borowsky and directed by Mike Scalisi for Pixel Mill Studios, covers the history of the festival, as well as the strange and macabre story that inspired it.
Pixel Mill Studios is a video production company based out of Boulder that has created award-winning professional videos and digital media projects for over 20 years.
Borowsky is a photographer, cinematographer, and filmmaker whose career began 39 years ago in Miami Beach, Florida. After receiving his master’s degree in video and photography from San Francisco State University in 1989, Borowsky moved to Boulder, where he produced “The Climbing Show” for the Outdoor Channel, among other projects.
Scalisi is a director and editor whose resume includes working as an editor on the major feature documentary “The Cove,” which won several awards across the festival circuit, including the Sundance Audience Choice Award and the 2009 Academy Award for Best Documentary.
Their film “Frozen Dead Guy Days” features footage from past festivals and interviews with Nederland residents that were conducted by the filmmakers throughout 2023.
Those interested in attending the premiere of “Frozen Dead Guy Days” can purchase an individual ticket for $18 for general admission, and $17 for seniors. Ticket packs for the Boulder International Film Festival are also available, for those who wish to watch just two, four, or six films. A full festival pass to attend all four days worth of films, events, and exclusive parties costs $450.
