Eldora, the backyard ski area for greater Boulder County and Colorado’s northern Front Range, today announces its third annual Play Forever Donation Match Challenge, a month-long fundraiser to support two Colorado-based organizations, the Indian Peaks Wilderness Alliance and the Native American Rights Fund, who work to protect and advocate for land, people, and communities.
“We are so proud to be able to support these two incredible nonprofits,” says Hunter Wright, Eldora’s director of sustainability and project development. “The Native American Rights Fund fights for justice for Native Americans in Colorado and beyond, and the Indian Peaks Wilderness Alliance works to protect the Indian Peaks and James Peak Wilderness Areas adjacent to Eldora, which sit upon the ancestral lands of the Ute, Cheyenne, and Arapaho people.”
Between December 15, 2022, and January 15, 2023, Eldora will match every dollar donated to the Eldora Play Forever philanthropic fund, up to $10,000. All funds raised during this period, including all public donations plus Eldora’s $10,000 matching donation, will be shared equally between the Indian Peaks Wilderness Alliance and the Native American Rights Fund.
The Native American Rights Fund fights to protect Native American rights, resources, and lifeways through litigation, legal advocacy, and legal expertise. Learn more at NARF.org.
The Indian Peaks Wilderness Alliance works to preserve and protect the Indian Peaks and James Peak Wilderness Areas. Learn more at IndianPeaksWilderness.org.
A successful Donation Match Challenge has the potential to raise more than $10,000 each for the two organizations, and Eldora will be using on-site signage, social media, and email campaigns to raise awareness and encourage its guests and employees to donate during the month between December 15 and January 15.
Now in its third year, Eldora’s Play Forever Challenge saw great success during the winters of 2020/21 and 2021/22, raising more than $30,000 to support the Nederland Food Pantry, the Emergency Family Assistance Association, The Wild Bear Nature Center, and TEENS, Inc—all local nonprofits working to support children and families in greater Boulder County. The 2022/23 Play Forever Donation Match Challenge aims to use the same grassroots fundraising efforts to support the Native American Rights Fund and the Indian Peaks Wilderness Alliance.
How to Donate: All donations are taxdeductible and those received between December 15, 2022, and January 15, 2023 will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $10,000. Donations should be made directly to the Eldora Play Forever Fund (https://commfound.givecorps.com/projects/52930-around-bouldercounty eldora-play-it-forward-fund), a philanthropic fund administered for Eldora by Community Foundation Boulder County. All funds raised during the Play It Forward Challenge will be given directly to the Indian Peaks Wilderness Alliance and the Native American Rights Fund to support their important work in the areas of human rights, social justice, and land stewardship.
The Eldora Play Forever Fund was established to provide financial support to help Eldora’s local community navigate challenging times and continue to thrive for generations to come. The fund works in partnership with the Community Foundation Boulder County, and all donations are directed to local non-profit organizations providing direct community assistance.
