Barbara Hardt, Eldora. Snow blowing frenzy. The Eldora snowmaking crew is working hard to get the mountain ready for opening day, November 16. Eldora currently has five snowmakers, and they’re looking to hire more. When temperatures are below freezing and humidity is low, rotating crews will make snow 24 hours a day. The day crew includes Wes Nellis, Justin Denning, Scott Beardslee and Josh Zeigler, the snowmaking manager. The night crew includes Brian Bell, Dave Shankey and Christian Metzelaars. Everyone is very excited to lay down the best snow surface for Eldora’s guests, this early in the season. Together these crews are working around the clock to take full advantage of the weather we have been given. The forecast is looking very good going into next week.
