NMSHS’s eighth grade class.[/caption]
It is tradition for Nederland Middle-Senior High School (NMSHS) to honor their eighth grade students with a ceremony to celebrate the end of their middle school years and welcome them to high school. 40 students were acknowledged on May 22 at NMSHS. Family and friends attended to support the students and celebrate with them.
NMSHS Principal Gavan Goodrich welcomed all attending and made opening remarks. He spoke of the quality of the students’ work and the possibilities that lie ahead of them.
The Hambourger Family celebrated the end of the school year with an eighth grader and a fifth grader. [/caption]
Cassin Rosenblum and Naima Billings were the student speakers. Rosenblum quoted A.A. Milne: “You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” He reminded his classmates and everyone in the room to be grateful for every minute they have.
Billings spoke about coming into middle school during the pandemic and how bumpy middle school can be at times. She proclaimed that she is proud of the class’s accomplishments and looks forward to what is ahead for each of them.
Goodrich and Vice Principal/ Athletic Director Sean DePaula presented the eighth grade class to all present, and gave each student a certificate of achievement. He then went on to give closing remarks.
Class of 2028, you are now stepping into your journey to high school!
