Easter egg hunt surpasses EGGSPECTATION

500 eggs were hidden at William C. Russell Park on March 30, for kids of all ages. With the day being pleasantly warm despite the snow covering the ground, the older kids gathered along the edge of an old wooden beam at the foot of the field above the park, eager with anticipation as they waited for permission to start the hunt for eggs. As soon as time was called they bolted up the short snowy slope to the field and began their eager search. Despite the snow they eagerly dug through it to find colorful hard-boiled eggs.

The younger kids, with the help of parents, eagerly found their own colorful eggs hidden in the snow covering the playground. The kids ran around grabbing as many eggs as they could before there were no more eggs to be found and they returned to gather prizes. They received baggies with candies and small toys, and if they were lucky a plastic egg to go retrieve a bigger prize.

Every year the hard work of the Central City Elks Club allows for this annual event to be held. They supply eggs and prizes for the kids and provide a welcoming and warm environment for everyone who wants to participate. The event always has dozens of kids show up, and includes eager parents and kids alike.

This year they had 500 eggs to lay out. They hard-boiled the eggs and the Cub Scouts pitched in and helped dye all of them. The event was warm and fun despite the snow. There were bigger prizes for some and smaller toys and candies for all. With all the kids winning a prize, everyone had a great time.
