Eagles win seven in a row

Barbara Lawlor, Gilpin County.  The Gilpin High School Eagles’ football team won its seventh consecutive game last Friday, October 20, 2017. They beat the Rangely Panthers, 36-28 to give them a 7-1 win record, tying with Mancos, Fowler, Merino and Hoehne.

 

Austin Boulter was named the Defensive Player of the Game, coming up with eight solos, three assists and two sacks. He also ran four into the end zone for four touchdowns. The Eagles took the lead 16-6 in the first quarter, succeeding at their conversion attempts and managing to stop the Panthers from making theirs.

 

The Panthers had a score streak in the second quarter and took to the lockers at halftime with a four-point lead, but made it up in the third quarter and didn’t give an inch in the fourth quarter.

 

The Eagles will travel to Kremmling on Friday, October 27, to play against West Grand.
