Eagles win in overtime

The Gilpin High School Eagles traveled to Plateau Valley last Satuarday, October 1, 2016, and returned home with a 28-20 victory over the Cowboys. It was a close, fun game.

Gilpin was down by two points at halftime, 12-14 after not succeeding at the conversion attempts. In the third quarter, they picked up a touchdown and a conversion, which put them six points ahead.

The Cowboys evened up the game in the fourth quarter but couldn't get the extra point to win the game and it went into overtime with a 20-20 score.

A true grit effort by Manny Gomez put 8 points on the scoreboard and Gilpin won the game to move into a 3-2 win record.

Manny Gomez was named the Defensive  Player of the game with 11 tackles, 1 hurry, causing 2 fumbles, 1 defensive touchdown and a scoop and score.

The next Gilpin game is at home against Soroco on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Rams have a 4-1 record, recently beating Rangely by a score of 54-0.
