Barbara Lawlor, Gilpin County. Last Thursday, September 4, the Gilpin Eagles volleyball team traveled to Deer Trail and after losing the first game, came up with a three-game win to take the match.
Game scores: 18-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-11.
Stephanie Siegrist had a great game, using her offensive skills to move the Eagles forward with seven kills, 36 attacks, 1 ace, 13 serves, 11 digs and one block. By the end of the game Deer Trail was backing off when she approached the net.
Jayda Gohdes was at her best behind the serve line, coming up with three kills, four aces, nine attacks and 18 serves.

After winning in the second game against the Rocky Mountain Eagles on Tuesday, September 2, the Gilpin Eagles lost the next two games and lost the 1-3 match
Game scores: 24-26, 25-20, 22-25, 21-25.
All of the games were close and long but the RM Eagles persevered to win the battle. The Gilpin Eagles will play the Nederland Panthers on Saturday, September 13, at 6 p.m. at Nederland for a mountain rivalry match.
