Barbara Lawlor, Gilpin County. Coach Craig Ball has the luxury of setting 21 players on the Eagle football field this year and looks forward to seeing how they mesh.
“We have an experienced group of six seniors, and we have a big group of freshman this year with multiple years of experience, a total of 21 players in all this season.”
The Eagles will start out the season this Saturday, Sept. 2, at 1 p.m., at home against the Merino Rams. Last year the Rams ended the season with an 8-3 overall win record, one of which was a 50-0 win against the Eagles in the first game of the season.
The Gilpin boys had a 5-4 win record in 2016.
Seniors Jack Ball, Austin Boulter and Manny Gomez will lead the team in their quest for wins. The Eagles will play four of nine games on their home field.
