Sarah Trujillo, Gilpin County. Basketball season was kicked off on November 28, 2018, with the first high school league games of the season. The Gilpin County Eagles battled against the Rocky Mountain Lutheran Eagles and sadly, both the varsity girls and boys fell short of the victory.
The varsity girls played first and lost the game by three points with a final score of 26-29. Nicole Adams led the team with four field goals, followed by Alicia Johnson with three. The team played impeccable defense and each player, such as freshman Maddy Altman, was willing to dive after every loose ball.

After the girls, the varsity boys played a close game up to the last few minutes of the fourth quarter. The final score was 61-70, with Rocky Mountain Lutheran taking the win. Since the game was so close, the crowd cheered for every shot made by the boys. Each team played tough and, in the end, it came down to who made more baskets. The next home game is on December 8, 2018 against Platte Canyon.
Come out and support our Gilpin High School teams as they continue their season!
