Barbara Lawlor, Gilpin County. As the season nears the end of regular play, the Gilpin High School Eagle boys’ lost two consecutive home games.
The first game, on Tuesday, January 6, 2018, featured a third quarter comeback, but a fourth quarter battle ended with the Denver Christian Thunder’s two-point victory, 46-44. Tanner Davis was high scorer with 22 points; Will Lorenz had 13 points with two three-pointers.
The Eagles now have a 7-10 win record.

On Friday, January 9, 2018, the Gilpin boys’ hosted the Twin Peaks Charter Timberwolves who dominated the game and came out with a 44-30 win over the Eagles. Austin Boulter put up a great fight, earning a double double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Even though the Eagles worked hard for a comeback they couldn’t make up the 15-point deficit at the end of the third quarter.
