Dome Fest West is back at Fiske Planetarium for its sixth year. It's the only film festival in the U.S. built entirely around fulldome cinema: films made to wrap around you, projected across Fiske's 8K dome on the CU Boulder campus.
If you've only been to Fiske for a star show, this is a different kind of night out. The lineup mixes features, shorts, music films, live dome performances and interactive pieces, picked from submissions sent in by dome filmmakers around the world. Last year's winners included a children's film and a ride along on the International Space Station.
Public screenings start with Opening Night on Friday, April 23, then run all day Saturday and Sunday morning. The awards ceremony is Sunday afternoon, and filmmakers are usually in the room to talk about their work.
Earlier in the week, April 21 to 23, the Fulldome Forward Expo brings planetarium directors, studios and toolmakers to Boulder for workshops, panels and networking.
