Discover Colorado: Nice in Ned

Posted

Omayra Acevedo, Nederland. High above the city of Boulder, at over 8,200 feet above sea level, is the coolest little hang out in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. As you walk up to it, you might question whether you’ve reached some sort of garage or an eclectic hidden treasure. Trust me when I tell you, you’re in for a Rocky Mountain beer drinking experience unlike any other. From the moment you walk in, you wonder why you are just now finding out about this place, but you’re glad you did.

Welcome to the Very Nice Brewing Company in the town of Nederland, Colorado. I’m going to recommend you sit at the bar. The corner nearest the brew room is my favorite. I tend to turn around and glance at all the beer-enthusiasts having a great time. The bar is amazing. Its rustic features compliment the quirky residents of the town itself. The beer tenders are a fun bunch to spend some time talking to and the locals tend to sit at the bar. Spend some time chatting with them too. They are -without question, very unique.

Yes, you can bring your kids, but you can’t leave them unattended. You can also bring your canine companion. All they ask is that you keep them leashed and well behaved. While you’re there, you just might be in for some very nice treats. Depending on the day of the week, you can partake in vinyl night, scrabble night, open mic night or live music. Hungry? No worries. The Very Nice Brewing Company offers tasty delights that go very well with your beer. Need something more than a snack? You’re welcomed to bring in food from one of the many restaurants in town.

Did I mention they also offer gluten-reduced beer and non-beer drinks like kombucha? They do! If you get the opportunity, talk to Jeff, the brew master. Or, as I like to refer to him as, the brew genius. Picking his brain about beer, fermentation, ideas and everything in between is an experience you should engage in if you get the chance. It’s not just a brewery, Jeff and Suzy are two people that help make a community a community. They pay their good fortune forward by supporting the local non-profits and families in need. How nice is that?!

Before you leave, don’t forget to purchase one of their exclusive merchandise items. From growlers to tank tops, sweaters, pint glasses and home-made items from the locals in town. You can even go home and bathe in one of their Very Nice soap bars. If not this time, then next time. Take it from me, you’re going to want to come back. You don’t want to miss their seasonal creations. Thanks to places like the Very Nice Brewing Company, it truly is Very Nice in Ned.
