David Alan Cash: January 13, 1948 – September 11, 2019

Posted

David Alan Cash, 71, of Nederland passed away on September 11, 2019, at his residence. He was born on January 13, 1948, in Terre Haute, Indiana to John and Margaret (Wright) Cash. He grew up in Oakland, Illinois.

He received a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University in Mathematics. In 1974 he moved to Colorado, on his own, to go to graduate school, build his home in Nederland and later, a family. He discovered his love for machining after moving to Colorado which led him to become a tool maker. On December 28, 1988, he married Joanne Cash in Vail, Colorado, at the Vail Ski Resort. They were wed on the ski run named “Giant Steps.”

David loved to maintain his home and spend time with his family. He was a woodworker and could often be found working in his shop. He enjoyed skiing and biking. An estate sale was always a must-do for David; history books were much sought after items. He also had a heart for the classics and loved to go to classic car shows and admire the cars.

David is preceded in death by his mother and father, named above and a brother, John E. Cash.

He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Joanne Cash, sons, Benjamin J., and Grayson D. Cash, all of Nederland; and many more family, friends, nieces and nephews who all love and will miss him dearly.

Interment will take place in Green Mountain Cemetery in Boulder, Colorado.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made, in David’s name, to the American Cancer Society.
