Run, crib, flush, nibs, nobs, muggins, skunk, go! Every Wednesday night is Craft Beer & Cribbage night at Very Nice Brewing starting at 6 p.m. Whether you are an avid player or a newbie, you’ll enjoy an evening of brews and cribbage in the tap room.
Is it a board game or a card game? It’s both! All you need is a standard deck of cards and a pegging board. The game can be played with 2-4 people with simple rules, some skills, and some luck. Scoring is easy math using boards as simple as a slab of pine or a stunning artistic display on rosewood, juniper or maple. Most boards are compact and easy to travel with, which adds to the attraction of the game. But feel free to try out our jumbo foam board in the tap room.
Who created cribbage? It is believed that the English poet Sir John Suckling created the game in the early 17th century. The objective of the game is to be the first player to score 121 points. Points can be earned by showing certain jacks, playing the last card, card combinations adding up to 15 or 31, for pairs, triples, runs, and flushes. Don’t be intimated to learn the game, most people can be taught easily in a single sitting. And at Very Nice, we often have expert players who are happy to teach those new to the game.
This is a great way to pass time on a Wednesday evening with friends, brews, and new friends. Although you will find most of our cribbage players here on Wednesdays, feel free to play cribbage or other games anytime we are open! To learn more about our tap room, check out our website for current beers on tap, beers to go, events and live music at www.verynicebrewing.com.
See ya in the tap room!
