Lotus and Lion Art Exhibition: Lotus and Lion is a landmark international exhibition showcasing the work of 45 visionary contemporary artists from across the globe. Through painting, sculpture, printmaking, and mixed media, this powerful collection explores how sacred Buddhist and Hindu iconography continues to inspire, transform, and thrive in the hands of today’s artists. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Wednesday through Sunday until August 31 at the Shoshoni Yoga Retreat located at 1400 Shoshoni Camp Road near Rollinsville.

Carousel Party: Celebrating 15 years! Vote for Dragon, Lion, or Pig and enjoy free rides from the Carousel as well as cake! 5 to 7 p.m. at the Carousel of Happiness located at 20 Lakeview Drive, Nederland. 

Composting in the Mountains: Join us for a FREE workshop covering various indoor and outdoor composting systems suitable for use in the mountains. We will review building and maintaining a successful compost and will address how to avoid problems with critters (including bears!). To apply the principles discussed, the workshop will include a demonstration of the process of building an outdoor compost pile as well as a visit to our established indoor worm compost setup. 5:30 to 7 p.m., 230 Norton Drive, Black Hawk.

Mountain Forum for Peace Yard Sale: The epic Mountain Forum for Peace Yard Sale has been running for 39 years! All proceeds are donated to peace causes and back into the community. The Yard Sale is 100% volunteer run. Friday, May 30 and Saturday, May 31 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 1 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. is half price and noon to 1:30 p.m., everything is free! Located at the Nederland Community Center, 750 Highway 72, Nederland. 

Music in the Park: Enjoy the beautiful scenery of Jamestown out in the park with food and live music from The River Arkansas! Starts at 7 p.m. across from 108 Main Street, Jamestown.

Gilpin County Arts Association’s 78th Annual Juried Show Opening Reception: The show runs through August 8. The reception is a family-friendly event and potluck–feel free to bring a dish! 5 to 8 p.m., Washington Hall, 117 Eureka Street, Central City.

Nederland Summer Concert Series: Bring a picnic basket, some blankets and chairs, and make yourself comfortable in Nederland’s beautiful Chipeta Park! Music by Blessing Bled Chimanga and Cary Morin Duo. 4 to 7 p.m. at 254-306 Lakeview Drive in Nederland.

Exploding Kittens Tournament: Join the Gilpin Public Library for our After Hours in the Stacks Teen series for a dynamite tournament of Exploding Kittens!
