Raise the Roof Winter Gala: Help raise money to build a roof on the library’s outdoor stage with an enchanting evening of books, wine, and music from Mountain ReVerb. Dave Aldridge “As I See It”: Enjoy a photography exhibit from Dave Aldridge at the Gilpin Public Library starting February 8! Art will be displayed till March 29 in the meeting room during library hours.

Super Bowl Pickle Party: Pickles, pickle dips, pickle platters, pickle salads, fried pickles, canned pickles, wrapped pickles, put a pickle in it and it’s a party! It’s a pot luck, but with lots of pickles. Bring your favorite food that has pickles in it or a side that pairs well with pickles! 4 p.m. at Very Nice Brewery located at 180 Jankowski Drive in Black Hawk.

Nederland Writers: Bring something you are working on to share and get feedback on or join the group to listen in and hone your skills. The Mountain Meditation Circle: A free and open mindfulness meditation practice and discussion group for experienced meditators meeting at the Gilpin County Public Library every Monday at 6 p.m. If you are interested in attending the group, please schedule a brief introductory phone call before your first meeting by contacting Alisa Witt at wittalisa@gmail.com, or call 847-890-5262 to provide a good time to schedule the introductory call. If you have never meditated before or would like instruction and direct support to develop your practice, Alisa can put you on a waiting list and when a minimum of five people have joined the list, she will announce the free class will begin in 2-3 weeks.

Radon, Wells, and Septic Systems: Homeowners in the mountains will learn about radon, septic systems, and well maintenance. Please join us to learn the importance of testing for Radon, an odorless gas that can cause lung cancer, and how to reduce radon hazard in homes. We will also discuss tips to maintain well and septic systems, to protect environmental and personal health. Homeowners and Realtors will learn important well, septic, and radon information for buying or selling properties in Gilpin County. Children’s Storytime: Join us every Wednesday morning for our Children’s Storytime. Most of our children range from 0 to 5 years of age but all children are welcome. Enjoy stories, fingerplays, rhymes, and more. A themed craft will follow every storytime. The previous week’s crafts are available while supplies last. 10 to 11 a.m. at the Gilpin County Public Library located at 15131 Highway 119.
Brave New World Seekers: A small gathering of locals who are wanting to explore the new world of cryptocurrency, AI, macroeconomics, slow-growth etc. through readings and discussions. 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Nederland Community Library located at 200 Highway 72.
Valentine’s Makerspace: Show your loved ones how much they mean with a handmade card! Drop-in to this Do-it-Yourself Valentine’s Card crafting makerspace. We have tools, tips, and tricks and all the paper supplies you’ll need to craft some beautiful cards for your loved ones. All ages invited. 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Nederland Community Library located at 200 Highway 72.
Liberal Drinking: Here's your chance to meet Gilpin County Democratic elected officials and party officers at Liberal Drinking! Join us for an informal happy hour on the second Wednesday of every month starting at 5:30 PM. This month’s gathering will be held at Very Nice Brewing Company located at 180 Jankowski Drive, Black Hawk. Not interested in the adult beverages? No problem! Non-alcoholic beverages are available. Everyone is welcome!

The Great Backyard Bird Count: Join Wild Bear birders on a free walk around downtown Nederland participating in this global community science initiative. The Great Backyard Bird Count started in 1998, helping scientists learn more about birds just before one of their annual migrations. Meet at Wild Bear, located at 20 Lakeview Drive in Nederland at 7:30 a.m.
