BEGIN STORY......Walking in, the first thing you’ll notice is the gentle, gigantic giraffe, reaching its neck up to visit with the trilling birds. There are sixty-six birds, sharing a silent song, circling the group from above. You’ll see the delightful dolphin, swimming in her spring of water trickling gently across her belly. There is a wild wolf, welcoming you into the group, and a robust rhino, waiting for you to sit and share a moment of silence. The benevolent bear is burly and suggests an opportunity to share a story. Last, the determined donkey allows a wink and a nod, whispering “join us.”
The chair, sitting at the edge of the group, can be used to close the circle and allow the sanctuary to pull you in.
Creator Scott Harrison invites you to share in his new dream, the Council of Kindness and to see the new collection of wooden animals sitting on a circular bench. His vision is to find a permanent home for The Council, where people can visit and enjoy a moment of peace, surrounded by the serenity of these majestic animals.
The open house is this Sunday, February 17, 2019, from Noon to 4 p.m. in a temporary location in the shopping center. You’ll find him, and his Council, in the space between Wild Bear Nature Center and Brightwood Music. He invites you to stop by and say hello to these animals, who are brothers and sisters to the Carousel of Happiness animals.
The Council of Kindness is located at Caribou Village Shopping Center, 20 East Lakeview Drive, Unit 108, Nederland, CO 80466. Their website has more information at https://www.councilofkindness.org and you can also send donations to The Council of Kindness, PO Box 1270, Nederland, CO 80466.
