I want to express my thanks to The Mountain-Ear for hosting the Gilpin County Candidates Forum.
However, there was a misstatement of fact from one of the candidates at the Forum that needs to be clarified.
During her introductory speech, Gail Crawford, the Unaffiliated candidate for County Clerk and Recorder, made a statement thanking me for my support. This was a complete fabrication.
I remember the 2018 General Election when Ms. Crawford (Maxwell at the time) was running the election as the Deputy County Clerk when ballots were mailed out with incorrect instructions about IDs, Central City Ballots were inadvertently mailed to County voters, and a botched election for Timberline Fire resulted in a refund to that organization.
To be clear, I do not support Ms. Crawford’s candidacy. Sahari McCormick, the current Clerk and Recorder, has my full support.
