Greetings Peak to Peak readers,

In celebration of National Food Bank Day the Gilpin County Food Pantry, P2P Rotary, and Ermel’s Emporium Thrift Shop are teaming up to make it easy to reach out a helping hand to your neighbors needing a boost during difficult times.

We will be collecting gently used clothes and non-perishable food on September 7 at 101 Norton Drive from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. We will unload your car to make it convenient to stop by with your donations on the way to the annual HCA flea market.

Pantry items that are appreciated are: Peanut butter, jelly, tuna, canned meat, chili, and soup, boxed dinners, taco shells, and Knorr sides. At this time we do have plenty of canned vegetables.

So clean out your closets and pick up a few items to share when shopping. Show what a caring united community looks like!

I want to express great appreciation to Rudy’s Bakery for delivering bread to the pantry weekly, the Colorado Pet Pantry for providing pet food, and to Sandy Hollingsworth for picking up 600 lbs. of pet food up monthly since the beginning of the Covid pandemic. Also to all of the faithful volunteers that show up weekly to make the pantry and Ermel’s possible. It takes a community to make a community thrive.

Thanks in advance for your generosity.
