Local first responders (active and retired) honored at the Community Worship Service on August 9 where all three Nederland churches gathered together to worship.
NEDERLAND — Nederland's three churches—Nederland Community Presbyterian Church, Calvary Chapel, and St. Rita Catholic Church—combined services on Sunday, August 9, for a Community Worship Service to honor local first responders.
Held at the pavilion in Chipeta Park with approximately 75 in attendance, the service included participation by first responders. Nederland Fire Protection District's Fire Marshal Andrew Joslin, Captain Glenn Wheelock, and Firefighter Chris Lynch led various parts of the service. The message was provided by David Rasmussen, St. Rita Church Council President; Pastor Seth Baumhover of Calvary Chapel; and the Rev. Zachary Hancock of Nederland Community Presbyterian Church.
More than a dozen current and retired first responders from local fire protection districts were present.
A blessing for the first responders and their family members was offered by Hancock. Music was provided by the Calvary Chapel's Revelation 19 Choir singing "Mighty to Save," and Anna Coronna of Nederland Community Presbyterian Church sang a moving rendition of "Amazing Grace."
An offering was accepted and will be divided among the four local fire districts: Nederland, Sugarloaf, Timberline, and Coal Creek Canyon.
