Dave WaveBarbara Lawlor, Nederland. At least 60 local people took a ride on the Carousel of Happiness Sunday evening. They waved at local videographer Eric Abramson as they whirled around on the animals of their choice. Abramson filmed the event for Dave (Bigfoot) Felkley, who is in Hospice care at his son's home in Longmont.

The group was just a portion of Felkley's best friends—people who have known and loved him for many years, for many reasons. Felkley has led both children and senior citizens on snowshoe treks and hikes all over the area. He has announced most community and sports events and has been a proponent of positive thinking and outdoor activities. He was also a volunteer at the Carousel and has been Santa Claus at holiday events for a couple of decades.

For the past few months, bone cancer has limited Felkley's ability to get out, so a group of people decided to organize a Dave Wave: bring his friends together and let them sing, dance, cheer, or wave a greeting to their friend, to let him know that he is loved and missed and being thought about every day.

Felkley celebrated his 75th birthday recently and all of the Dave Wave participants sang to him. A large photo cutout of Bigfoot was among the carousel riders.
