Lisa Widdekind, who is running for the Boulder County Commissioner District 3 seat, has taken the No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge.
“I pledge not to take contributions from oil, gas, and coal industry executives, lobbyists, and PACs and instead prioritize the health of our families, climate, and democracy over fossil fuel industry profits,” says Widdekind.
Taking the No Fossil Fuel Money pledge means that a politician’s campaign will adopt a policy to not accept any contributions over $200 from the corporate Political Action Committees (PACs), named executives, or lobbyists of fossil fuel companies and trade associations — companies whose primary business is the extraction, processing, distribution, and/or sale of oil, gas, and/or coal. Widdekind has taken the pledge even farther and promised to take NO fossil fuel contributions.
“As a long-time climate activist who actively works to stop the money pipeline funding fossil fuel infrastructure development, there is no way I want to be beholden to anyone involved in destroying the climate. My intention is to do everything I can to protect Boulder County from oil and gas extraction impacts and any practices that negatively impact our climate,” Widdekind states.
