Chaucee Stillman, Peak to Peak. Over the years I’ve heard from my clients that coming up with ideas of what to post is the hardest part for them when it comes to managing the social media marketing for their business. I hear ya! With over 8 years as a digital strategist, you can bet that I’ve run into this problem too. Writers call it “writer’s block” I call it idea fatigue.
Thankfully there are ways around this. Here are my top tips for sparking content ideas when you’re stuck in a dry spell.

Regular Brainstorming. Establishing a habit of content brainstorming will ensure that it happens monthly and overtime will make the process smoother. Commit to content planning and brainstorming content ideas for 30 minutes every other week. The more you practice brainstorming content the easier ideas will come to you. Keep a note on your phone to jot down ideas when you’re on the go.
Visit Forum Websites. Forum websites like Quora.com and Reddit.com are a great way to figure out what problems people are facing. When people search for things online they are looking for an answer. I’ve found a ton of article ideas on quora.com by writing articles with answers to the questions people are asking. As long as the questions they are asking are relevant to your industry / field, this could be a great opportunity to create evergreen content!
Look At Your Competitors. Sometimes I can find inspiration from other people who are pursuing their passions as well. Stay away from imitation but gather inspiration from what’s working for your competitors on social media.
