Tom Lawson, Peak to Peak. This past weekend historic Colorado & Southern Railway gondola #4319 leased by the South Park Rail Society from Central City was moved by steam engine #4 on to the roundhouse turntable and moved into the roundhouse at the South Park Rail Society facility at Como, Colorado.
This historic gondola, “one of a kind” will eventually receive restoration to the condition when it was rebuilt in the company shops in 1941, the last time it was inside a building.
Pictured are C&S gondola #4319 next to steam locomotive #4 on the Como roundhouse tracks. C&S gondola #4319 finally stored inside the roundhouse after 77 years being outside will eventually undergo restoration, with Tom Lawson (right) of the Denver, South Park and Pacific Historical Society congratulating Jason Midyette (left) of the South Park Railroad Society for this cooperative effort.
C&S gondola will eventually be historically displayed for viewing at Como, particularly Boreas Pass Railroad Day Saturday, August 18.
