Colorado Natural Gas (CNG) has announced the winners of its 2022 charitable giving grant program. This year, CNG is celebrating its 25th anniversary. In honor of this occasion, CNG has increased its community giving commitment to $25,000.
CNG started in 1997 when its founders saw a need in their communities and decided to bring affordable, reliable, and safe energy solutions to unserved and underserved areas in the front range of Colorado. The company began with a set of core values that represented their mountain communities: pioneering, excellence, agility, kindness, and safety. These values are still exemplified at CNG every day through initiatives like its charitable giving program.
While a lot has changed over the last 25 years, CNG has remained committed to being a good community partner and neighbor. Each year, CNG donates resources to worthy causes that maintain and improve the sense of community in the areas it serves.
Through CNG’s charitable grant and sponsorship program, CNG awards funding to organizations and businesses with strategies that align with CNG’s mission. Priority is given to environmental, health-related, and educational initiatives and programs, as well as economic and cultural initiatives geared toward improving the well-being of CNG’s neighbors.

“We’re honored to award grants to these valuable community resources, especially on the heels of our 25th anniversary” said Phil Marcum, Senior Manager of Business Development in Colorado. “At CNG, we understand we are only as strong as the communities we serve. Providing community resources is just one of the many ways we can support our customers and community members.”
In addition to supporting community causes, CNG also provides members of its team with up to 20 hours of paid time off each year to volunteer in the communities it serves.
This is our third year in a row to support the Gilpin Food Pantry. This year’s award is for $1,500 to support funding to buy food needed for its summer lunch program benefitting the children of Gilpin County.
The Food Pantry typically provides 14 days’ worth of breakfasts and lunches at a time. The pantry spends about $200- $300 every two weeks to buy parent- friendly, kid-approved, nutritious meal choices, including bread, fresh fruit and vegetables, lunch meat, cheese, milk, juice, eggs and breakfast meat. Overall, this support will assist many families in our Black Hawk, Colorado, service area with their food bills during the summer months. We are proud to be able to support our friends and neighbors in the Gilpin community.
