COAL CREEK CANYON — The Coal Creek Canyon Improvement Association celebrated Thanksgiving with a free turkey dinner at the CCCIA Hall on Thursday, November 25. More than 75 people attended the event.
The menu included dark and white turkey meat and plant-based turkey, potatoes, stuffing, gravy, soda, and coffee. Jay Schaller cooked four of the turkeys over coals and in oil outside, and two turkeys were cooked in the oven.
Coal Creek residents brought dishes that were spread out on a table in front of the kitchen. These included a salad, rice with peas, sweet potatoes, meatballs, cranberry sauce, and deviled eggs. Desserts included pies and cupcakes.
Board President Norma Cassin and Vice President Jeremy Turnmeyer organized the event. Others helping to serve and cook were Pam Ling, Donna Miller, Ursula Treves, Tony Tyrell, Sheila Giberti, Misty Khachatrain, Janice Batt, and Shelly Peters-Schaller.
The next events at the hall will be Santa’s visit for kids, December 13, noon to 2 p.m. and Santa Paws for Pets, December 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, email CCCIA80403@gmail.com. CCCIA’s website is coalcreekcanyon.org. The hall is located at 31528 Highway 72.
