On Monday, July 4, 2022, Coal Creek Canyon celebrated the 246th anniversary of the ratification of the Declaration of Independence by holding its annual Freedom Fest at the Coal Creek Canyon Improvement Association (CCCIA) Hall and on Highway 72.
The day started with a pancake, sausage, and eggs breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m., with all proceeds and donations going toward the CCCIA scholarship fund. At 9 a.m., various vendor booths opened, and at 9:30 a.m., the parade started lining up.
By 10 a.m., the parade was up and roaring with various classic vehicles and vehicles from the fire department heading the lineup. At 11 a.m., the food truck and beer garden opened. At 11:15 a.m., the National Anthem was performed with a flag ceremony, and at 11:30 a.m., games, activities, and tournaments began. At noon, The Rhythm Underground Band began performing, and the ceremony concluded at 3 p.m.
