With housing, food, transportation, and healthcare costs growing faster than incomes for lower-income households, it’s no surprise many live with almost unbearable strains on family budgets.
Places like Clinica Family Health (CFH) are taking steps to make healthcare more accessible. Clinica opened its doors in Lafayette in 1977, and by 2022 Gilpin County and Nederland would have clinics, both operated by a four-person team.
Both clinics opened in June of 2022, making the Gilpin location the sole healthcare clinic in the county. The second mountain clinic is located at Hub Ned in Nederland, offering more health care for the town’s growing population.
“Boulder County needs more affordable healthcare. That’s where Clinica Family Health comes in. For over 40 years, we’ve provided affordable healthcare for children and adults. As a community health center, our doors are open to everyone: families and individuals, blue-collar workers, professionals, and the homeless.”
The need for care in mountain communities has been an issue many struggle with. Clinica has changed that need for a sense of peace. The clinics welcome everyone, from the uninsured to anyone on Medicaid, Medicare, or private insurance.
The year-old facilities offer expanded services, including non-medical behavioral health services. A primary care doctor, nurse, case manager, behavioral health therapist, registered dietitian, pharmacist, and dental hygienist are all part of Clinica.
In their first year, the clinics scheduled 777 patients totaling 2,389 visits between Gilpin and Nederland. The numbers continue to grow, proving the need for healthcare in our mountain communities.
Congratulations to Clinica Family Health for its one-year milestone!
