Sara Sandstrom-Kobi, Nederland. Three Nederland churches, Nederland Community Presbyterian, Calvary Chapel and St. Rita’s Catholic Church, all sponsored a community summer day camp for kids last week. Camp counselors came from Highlands Presbyterian Camp, in Allenspark, to lead the week’s events.

This year’s theme was “Peace Works, Empowering the Next Generation of Peacemakers.” Every morning, over 30 kids spent time dancing, singing, playing outdoor games, working on a craft and learning a Bible story. They learned four words from around the world that tied into the theme, “Aloha,” which is Hawaiian for hello and welcome, “Agape,” which is Greek for love, “Ubuntu,” which means community in Zulu and Xhosa, and “Shalom,” which is Hebrew for peace.
It is great to see kids of different ages coming together and working so well together.
