Jacqueline Hart Gibson, Nederland. Olivia Medina will graduate with her Chinook West class on May 27, 2021. Although her immediate plans post graduation remain fluid, she says she’d like to pursue her interest in graphic design, especially as it applies to video games. She is also considering archeology as a career. She said, “It depends on what happens in the future.”
Olivia reported she was happy to be able to travel outside of Colorado with her school. She said she valued both, “learning about the canyons and the history of the American Indians.” Olivia was also grateful for the social experience of traveling with her class. She said she appreciated getting to experience what it’s like to be a part of a team, and to help one another with whatever is needed. “I just like to go out and travel,” she said. “I love being on the road and I enjoyed the time that I got to spend with my schoolmates.”
Olivia was a crucial participating member of the Chinook senior yearbook staff as well, according to another member of the memory archive team.
When asked what advice she would give to next year’s seniors Olivia thoughtfully responded, “If they ever feel like giving up because of something holding them back, I would think of Dory’s line and just keep swimming.” She concluded, “I would simply keep on singing it in my head because no matter what happens next, you can always just keep doin’ what you love, and what you want to do in life.”
