West of the city of Denver, you will find evergreen trees layered across the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. In these Colorado Rocky Mountains, you will discover many incredible things. One of those things is the 40-mile-long Lariat Loop Scenic and Historic Byway. It connects the towns of Golden, Morrison and Evergreen. The Lariat Loop has inspired many people to drive, take photos, hike, relax and even start their own brewing company and restaurant.

I’d like you to meet Debbie and Anders Ruikka, the visionaries, creators and owners of the Lariat Lodge Brewing Company in Evergreen, Colorado. Once upon a time two humans fell in love and bought property in Colorado, not realizing it was going to turn into a dream. After a couple of years of making a life and living in a structure built in the 1920s, the Ruikkas turned their home into a brewery and restaurant.

The Lariat Lodge Brewing Company prides itself in bringing unforgettable hospitality to every guest. Between the proclaimed best Reuben sammie (sandwich), The Anders (Swedish meatballs smothered in lingonberry gravy), kid-friendly options, two new beers per month, daily and weekly menu rotations and friendly service, well, it’s no wonder the Lariat Lodge Brewing Company is held to a high standard of experience.

So, go! Sit in front of what could have been a bedroom fireplace or a living room; feel first-hand what it’s like to be part of the Swedish- Colorado culture. The overall experience will keep you coming back again and again. If you can’t make the Evergreen site, there’s another location in Littleton.

Humans are not the only beings that enjoy visiting, by the way. The elk have their own place to visit the brewery.

It’s no secret that I love being alone. It’s part of my introverted personality. A lot of the time, it’s what enhances my experiences. Like the one I had while speaking with Mike and Victoria, directors of operations at the Lariat Lodge Brewery and Restaurant, where the beers are Colorado brewed and the delicious meals are elevated foods.
