ALLENSPARK - On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, Boulder County’s Zero Waste team hosted a meeting at The Old Gallery addressing challenges occurring at the Allenspark Transfer Station. Part of the discussion was the potential of new operating hours, allowing employees to benefit from a better work-life balance.

The Allenspark Transfer Station will be open the same number of hours each week.

Current transfer station hours:

Sunday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Monday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Tuesday CLOSED

Wednesday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Thursday CLOSED

Friday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Saturday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Beginning on January 1, 2025, the transfer station hours will be:

Sunday 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Mondays 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Tuesday CLOSED

Wednesday 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Thursday CLOSED

Michal Duffy, Zero Waste Program Manager, told The Mountain-Ear, “The changes are being made based on feedback from area residents and facility users from a community event and a public survey.” According to the survey’s results, 71% of respondents said they would prefer the transfer station to open earlier and be closed one weekend day.

Please note that the transfer station will not be open on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. The facility will open at 8 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025.
