Caleb Littlebear arrived in Central City in April of 2021 and admits he has fallen in love with the city and its people. He was born in Stilwell, Oklahoma, and is a member of the Cherokee Nation. The Cherokee National Capitol, now the Cherokee Nation Courthouse, is a historic tribal government building in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
He learned at a young age what it means to be a hard worker with integrity. His parents put him to work at an early age working in the fields on their ranch. Littlebear came to Central City from 2014- 2016 but did not stay. He loved the environment and how he felt being in the mountains and vowed he would come back one day. Littlebear feels at home with the community and the beautiful mountains. He expressed, “It feels right for my spirit”.
Caleb Littlebear has been keeping busy with his services since arriving in the spring. He does drywall, yardwork, cleaning and demolition and any job requiring heavy lifting. He gets his jobs mostly through word of mouth and has built up a stellar reputation with his clients.
Littlebear has been active in community events over the summer. He had a great time at the Lou Bunch Festival in August and loved dressing up in his fancy duds for the occasion. He also participated in the Cemetery Crawl on Bald Mountain.
Littlebear plans to make Central City his home and would like to maintain a steady business and has political aspirations. He can see himself as part of the city council someday. He has gotten to know many of the people in the community and has gained an understanding of their needs. He feels he can be an advocate for them. He thinks one of the highlights of living here is getting the opportunity to walk around town and visit the businesses. He especially likes the owners of Dostal Alley. He also enjoys being in the mountains where you can feel nature.
