Central City to implement new marijuana retail regulations

Patrice LeBlanc, Central City. Central City Council met on Tuesday, April 7, 2020, in an online session at 2 p.m. rather than the usual 7 p.m. meeting time. In attendance were Mayor Jeremy Fey, Mayor Pro Tem Judy Laratta, Alderman Jeff Aiken, Alderman Jack Hidahl and Alderman Jackie Johnson. Alderman Aiken was unable to vote on all the items due to technical difficulties. 

Ordinance No. 20-04: repealing and reenacting Article VII of Chapter 6 of the City of Central Municipal Code to implement new medical marijuana regulations and create a permitting process for medical marijuana delivery by medical marijuana stores was approved 4-1.

Ordinance No. 20-05: repealing and reenacting Article IX of Chapter 6 of the City of Central Municipal Code and amending other sections to implement new retail marijuana regulations and create a licensing system for marijuana hospitality businesses and retail marijuana hospitality and sales businesses was approved 3-2.

Ordinance No. 20-06: amending Chapter 16 of the Municipal Code specifically certain sections of the Land Development Code to implement new marijuana land use regulations was approved 3-2.

Ordinance No. 20-07: amending Chapter 16 of the Municipal Code to allow and regulate Multi-Use Recreational Trails as a conditional use under the City’s Land Development Code was approved 5-0.

Resolution No. 20-13: approving the use of Electronic Consent for signatures on Ordinances, Resolutions, Contracts and other instruments requiring the City’s signature was approved 5-0.

Resolution No. 20-14: extending the City of Central’s Local Emergency Disaster Declaration was approved 4-0.
