On Friday, November 1, 2023, Central City continued its annual Tommyknockers Holidays with day two. Mayor Fey led the residents of Central City in its annual tree lighting ceremony, following an important reminder that the holidays aren’t only about one religion, community, or person.
The holidays are about everyone coming together and embracing one another for our similarities as much as our differences, regardless of the faith practiced. Twinkle lights, lamp posts, and business decorations lit Main Street with anticipation of the town’s holiday tree lighting.
By 6:30 p.m., the crowd cheered with delight as colorful lights filled the holiday tree. With candles in their hands, carolers and residents took to Main Street, offering the festive sounds of the season to all who would listen.
Upon reaching the Teller House, more holiday music ensued before enjoying a potluck among strangers and friends. Guests wearing their best ugly holiday sweaters participated in a friendly competition for the title of the ugliest sweater.
Shortly after 8 p.m., Velvet Dreams serenaded guests with rock and roll music, during which more laughs and cheer were shared and enjoyed. Central City has become pretty good at bringing the holiday season to life the way only a small mountain town can!
