The Central City Council meeting was called to order by Mayor Jeremy Fey at 7:10 p.m. and lasted for thirteen minutes. In attendance were Mayor Jeremy Fey, Mayor Pro Tem Judy Laratta, Alderman Jeff Aiken, Alderman Kara Tinucci and Alderman Jill Story.
Consent Agenda: The Historic Preservation Rock Rehabilitation Grant Program for 310 E. First High Street, 347 Eureka Street and 101 H. Street was approved unanimously. The Historic Preservation Paint Reimbursement Grant Program for 330 Spring Street was approved unanimously. These grants were established through the Historic Preservation Commission to assist properties located within the National Historic Landmark District to keep within the standards of an historic property.
New Business: There was no new business on the agenda.
Staff Updates: There were no new Staff Updates.
Council Comments: Laratta stated the upcoming election is very important and listed four items to stay focused on; inflation, immigration, global warming and women’s rights. She felt that if one party gets empowered, women’s rights will be taken away. She also commented our democracy was under attack on January 6 and democracy is our number one issue. Laratta encouraged everyone to vote.
Aiken commended the staff on their great work on the budget. Tinucci also complimented the staff on a thorough budget. Story promoted Proposition 122 for psychedelic assistance for mental health that will be on the Colorado ballot. Fey thanked Laratta for conducting the last meeting in his absence. He wished Tinucci, who was attending the meeting online, and Finance Director Abigail Robbins a speedy recovery from their illnesses. Fey also commented on the great job the staff did preparing the budget and praised City Manager Daniel Miera and Finance Director Abigail Robbins. He stated there has been a lot of economic development in Central City despite the pandemic and other factors.
Public Comment: There were no public comments.
The meeting went into Executive Session at 7:23 p.m.
