The Coal Creek Canyon Improvement Association hosted a pancake breakfast and flea market at the CCCIA hall on Highway 72 on Saturday, September 17. The proceeds for the breakfast will be used for scholarships.
Ashley Roberts and Suzanne Bates sat at the table taking tickets. The breakfast went from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and cost $8 for non-members to CCCIA and $7 for members, and $4 for children.
The breakfast featured pancakes, sausage and eggs. Chief Cook Bruce Goodwin said he cooked the eggs, coordinated the help in the kitchen and delegated jobs. He has been involved with the pancake breakfast for 25 years.
They do the pancake breakfast one on Valentine’s Day, one on Mother’s Day, one in the fall for the leaf peepers and on July 4. They earn $3,000 to $5,000 per year.
In the kitchen helping dish out pancakes, sausage and eggs were Tony Carmeli, CCCIA President Chris Passreliti, Karen Cropps, and Jeannie Ney.
Outside at the flea market, Dave Schemel brought his photography and postcards. He has been a photographer for 25 years.
He lives in Crescent Park and has a view of Indian Peaks. He also captured a photograph of the lunar eclipse in 2019 from the Rocky Mountain Metro Airport.
Ranch Elsie residents Julie and Ann Nicholas brought a collection of glasses and material. Ann has been living in the area for 54 years.
Inge Sengelmann has been living in Crescent Park for 10 years. She brought painting materials, hats, jewelry and a bicycle.
Josh Betz with Blue Boomerang brought two tables of records and memorabilia. He said his family has been living a couple of houses nearby for 50 years, and he attended Middle School in Nederland.
The Coal Canyon Improvement Association also hosts a free Thanksgiving Dinner and Christmas with the Santa Claus. They will host a chili event on
