On Monday, May 27, 2024, a silent spin of the Carousel took place during the Memorial Day event at the Carousel of Happiness. The annual silent ride honors our fallen heroes as well as those who serve, past and present.
Flower girls handed out red roses as people shared a story, a name, or a memory of a loved one or friend. Scott Applebee played “Taps” on his trumpet, in memory of his grandfather Dennis Applebee and great-grandfather Peter Applebee.
After the silent spin took place, veterans and flower girls climbed onto Carousel animals and had a memorial ride.
Thank you to all of our men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice. This day of remembrance is for each of you. Special thanks to Scott Harrison for this beautiful event every year.
The Carousel of Happiness is located at 20 Lakeview Drive, Nederland. To find out more, check out their website at https:// carouselofhappiness.org/.
