Sara Sandstrom, Nederland. If your child will be five by October 1, 2021, it is time to start thinking about Kindergarten. Nederland Elementary (NES) will be hosting a virtual Kindergarten Information Night on February 16, 2021, from 6 -7:15 p.m. All parents and guardians with children who are about to make this very important step in their lives are welcome and invited to attend.
Kindergarten is a wonderful experience filled with play and academic learning. It also contributes to a child’s social emotional skill development.
Kindergarteners learn how to cooperate with other students, respect others and understand feelings. They develop language, numeracy and reading skills. At NES they also participate in art, music and physical education classes.
NES Kindergarten teacher, Mary Waddell says, “Kindergarten is key to learning so many important life skills like critical thinking, communication, motivation, responsibility and persistence! These are building blocks which students will rely on as they get older and Kindergarten is the time to be practicing them. Most importantly, we want students to develop a love of learning and build confidence in their ability to learn.”
The value of early childhood education can not be overstated. Those early years are the foundation for future development. Nederland Elementary is ready to welcome all new Kindergarteners and their families to their school community.
Please register for this event by contacting NES registrar Sheila Kassera. She can be reached at sheila.kassera@bvsd.org or 720-561-4808.
